Spam are unsolicited email messages that make it to your inbox. For the cautious user, spam is merely annoying. The cautious user knows spam messages contain to information of value, so he just deletes them without a second glance. It’s the constant deleting of spam messages that can prove to be annoying.

Unwary computer users that are not as cautious will find that spam messages besides being annoying, can pose a risk to the security of their system. The spam message could for example take the user to a phishing site – a site that looks just like a legitimate one, but is on. For example a phising site that looks just like your email login page. If the user falls for the phishing attempt, the bad guys have access to his email account.

Even worse, spam messages could impersonate a well-known company, say Microsoft, and claim that you need to download a patch – which the spam message says it is attached to the mail. The attachment could in fact be a virus, or Trojan, or any other form of malware.

I think you get it why it is important to keep spam out of your inbox. Blocking spam messages is the thing that SpamArrow specializes on. This application, which weighs in at about 8MB, is a plugin for Outlook and will work on all versions of the Microsoft-developed Windows operating system. SpamArrow’s job is a simple one: keep annoying spam messages out of the inbox.

In this regard the application uses SpamAssassin based scoring content filters to identify spam. All email messages that are flagged as spam are automatically moved to a special SpamArrow folder. You can set up SpamArrow to be more aggressive or more relaxed in its spam fighting endeavor. Even if at its most aggressive, you can rest assured that emails you need to see are not left out of your inbox. Only spam and junk mail will be filtered out.
